Mary Gillett
VISITING ARTIST
Schools & Colleges

In schools I can offer projects which experiment with various printmaking
techniques and drawing or painting projects which put emphasis on, or
incorporate, elements of the current area of study in the curriculum. I am the
proud owner of 2 lightweight portable etching presses, one of which was
purchased with a grant from Arts Council England (South West). During my
workshops children can now experiment with a wide variety of printmaking
techniques not normally available in schools.
Undergraduate and advanced students studying B.Phil and Masters degrees in
Education, and BA students studying Art Design and Technology can also benefit
from working with a professional artist and from my experience and expertise in
a broad range of printmaking processes (email for details).
'…her excellent teaching and workshops attract a range of students, from
complete beginners and school children, to art students, graduates and a number
of professional artists….'
'Mary's understanding of the needs of pupils is indicative of her care and
perception and she manages to carefully balance the inherent disciplines of the
etching process with their occasionally wayward demands…'
'Mary's classes…..are the highlight of the week.'
The examples of work shown above and below, are by school students (year 12
etchings, year 6 oil pastel paintings, year 4 collagraphs).
